President Donald Trump gathered seven tech leaders at the White House to sign a ratepayer protection pledge holding that they will pay all the costs associated with the boom in construction of data centers.

Analysts with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin said ratepayers are at risk of subsidizing data centers if We Energies’ proposed rate framework for data centers is given the go-ahead as proposed.

The Michigan Public Service Commission approved a special contract that will allow DTE Energy to continue its plans to supply a hotly contested, $7 billion data center with nearly 1.4 GW.
