The fate of a 6.2-GW cluster of solar energy projects in western Nevada is uncertain following the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to break the group into individual projects for review.
The Bureau of Land Management has proposed changes to three of its Northern Nevada resource management plans to accommodate NV Energy’s 235-mile Greenlink North transmission project.
With approvals falling into place for NV Energy’s Greenlink West project, construction of the 472-mile transmission line is expected to ramp up in 2025.
The Bureau of Land Management issued a record of decision approving the 470-mile transmission line, which will connect Las Vegas with the northern part of Nevada and be capable of transmitting up to 4,000 MW of energy.
The Bureau of Land Management auctioned four parcels in the Amargosa Desert in southern Nevada for solar development, raising a record-breaking $105 million.
