An industry coalition is promoting the concept of underwater transmission linking New England and Nova Scotia via wind farms off their respective coasts.

The difficult prospect of rapidly building a new industry with little guidance was front and center on Day 2 of the DOE’s Floating Offshore Wind Shot Summit.

BOEM wrapped up a series of info sessions in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, seeking feedback as it develops a map of potential wind farm sites.

Jordan Shoesmith of Copenhagen Offshore Partners said that available public funding can deliver a supply chain “to last for generations.”
