Ohio legislators approved a bill to subsidize FirstEnergy Solutions’ nuclear plants on Lake Erie, providing a lifeline to the industry in PJM.

The Ohio Senate passed the Clean Air Act to curb state renewable energy mandates and create subsidies for nuclear and coal plants.

Ohio lawmakers are being asked to trade ratepayer-funded renewable energy mandates for the jobs and carbon-free energy of FirstEnergy’s nuclear plants.

As part of its bankruptcy filing, FirstEnergy Solutions has requested the authority to end its long-held “sponsorship” of the Ohio Valley Energy Corp (OVEC).

FERC dismissed concerns from several stakeholders in approving the integration of Ohio Valley Electric Corp. (OVEC) into PJM.

PJM members are questioning a request by the Ohio Valley Electric Corp. to join as a new transmission zone, but the issue is not up for debate, the RTO said.

PJM will meet to address stakeholder concerns over how the integration of the Ohio Valley Electric Corp. into the RTO would affect existing members.

PJM’s plan for addressing uplift remains on schedule, and the final two phases of its three-phase solution will be filed by the end of this week.
