NextEra, Daimler, BlackRock to Build EV Charging, Hydrogen Refueling Network
A Crucial Step to Support Battery Electric and Fuel Cell Trucking
Daimler Trucks North America plans to begin production of this Class 8 heavy-duty battery electric truck, the eCascadia, later this year. The big rig is rated at 500 horsepower and capable of carrying a full load 250 miles. The battery can be 80% recharged in 90 minutes. Daimler is also producing a medium duty box truck, the eM2, with a 300 horsepower electric drive, 230-mile range and 60-minute recharge time. The company in November 2020 said a fleet of 38 pre-production vehicles had been driven 500,000 miles by trucking companies in real world tests.
